Dallas World Aquarium – Hidden Gems of Texas

If you are looking for a fun place to take the whole family this summer then check out the Dallas World Aquarium.

The summers in Texas are blistering but the Dallas World Aquarium is cool; both literally and figuratively. There is something here for all ages and for an afternoon of fun, it's relatively inexpensive.

In addition to the aquarium there are exhibits from all over the world, like Borneo, South Africa and the Mayas to name a few. These exhibits include animals from birds to rodents, lizards, bats, monkey's and more.

There are live animal feedings too. You can feed otters, sharks, penguins, crocodiles and more. Also, hear some great talks from the experts about conservation and the animals on display. This is a wonderful opportunity for the kids to have fun and learn at the same time (just don't tell they are learning)!

Don't worry about eating before you go either, because they have a restaurants and cafes on premise with foods from around the world. Mexico, Indonesia, Australia, Fiji, British Columbia are all represented but if you just want a burger and fries, you can get that too.

There are reefs, a rainforest, endangered species gallery and even a 'port hole' for events and functions. This is a place you can spend the whole day exploring. My family loved it, although it does get crowded at times, so give yourself plenty of time to tour the whole facility.

They are open daily 9 am - 5 pm with exception to Thanksgiving and Christmas when they are closed. Admission is reasonable with adults running about $21.00 and kids (2-12) about $15.  Plus, there are senior, military and group rates available.
