The Doors catalog may finally be getting the quality sound it deserves.  Acoustic Sounds has announced that they have secured the rights to the band's original master tapes to be used as the ultimate source for the release the entire catalog on 45 rpm audiophile vinyl. Each Doors LP will be pressed on two heavy 200 gram discs at Acoustic Sounds' new pressing plant.  The vinyl will be packaged with original inner sleeve photos and graphics.

Many Doors fans were disappointed at the quality of the vinyl box set released two years ago.  The audio quality was not good, and the price for that set was around $200.  Chad Kassem, who owns Acoustic Sounds will attempt to remedy the issues for fans with these new deluxe releases.

Although no firm release date has been set for the new pressings, they are currently available for pre-order for $50 each.  You can see the details at AcousticSounds.com.  These should be the definitive versions of the Doors LPs including the self-titled 'Doors', 'Strange Days', 'Waiting For The Sun', 'Soft Parade', 'Morrison Hotel', and 'L.A. Woman'.  The video below is from the Doors appearance on the Smothers Brothers television show from 1968:
