On Saturday, October 8th, Elton John played his 3,000th live concert. The show took place at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. It's an amazing concert run for the 'Rocket Man', who continues to record and tour regularly.

Elton has played more concerts in the U.S. than any other country, with his homeland in the U.K. ranking second. To be exact, 1,608 U.S. shows and just 497 in Great Britain. Surprisingly Elton has played more shows in the 2000s than in any other decade, far surpassing his totals in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

He is currently working on a movie about his life with the title 'Rocketman'. It could be out some time next year. And Elton is already working on a new album with producer T-Bone Burnett. Recording sessions are expected to get underway in January. Check out a video of Elton playing Central Park in New York from 1980: (via abcnewsradioonline.com)
