Geddy Lee and Eddie Vedder Confirmed for ‘Evening of Who Music’
An impressive assortment of artists will come together Nov. 11 to celebrate the Who's 50th anniversary -- and raise some money for a great cause in the bargain.
The all-star event, called 'An Evening of Who Music,' is scheduled to take place at Shepherd's Bush Empire in London, and features the Who's band (guitarist Simon Townshend, drummer Zak Starkey, bassist Pino Palladino, singer/music director Billy Nicholls, guitarist Frank Simes, keyboardist/singer Loren Gold and multi-instrumentalist John Coury) backing up the night's headliners as they perform personally selected favorites from the group's extensive catalog. Proceeds benefit Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity that's long been a favorite cause for Who leaders Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey.
Among the talent assembled for the show are Rush's Geddy Lee and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, as well as ex-Oasis singer Liam Gallagher and recent Daltrey collaborator Wilko Johnson. Tickets go on sale Oct. 31, and will be available for purchase here.
'An Evening of Who Music' serves as part of the extensive 50th anniversary celebration planned by the band, including its recent 'Who Hits 50!' compilation (including the new song 'Be Lucky') and a long list of tour dates scheduled to begin in late November and continue through late 2015.
