A man affectionately known as the 'Father Of Rock and Roll', Chuck Berry, is 85 years old today (October 18th). Chuck Berry's influence on the formation and development of the rock and roll sound simply can't be overstated.

His rapid fire guitar riffs and licks defined the sound of rock, and coupled with his clever, rhyming lyrics, became the model for the music form thereafter. The songs are timeless. Johnny B. Goode, Roll Over Beethoven, Little Queenie, You Can't Catch Me, No Particular Place To Go, and so many more.

Chuck Berry was and is the total package. He's an electrifying performer, songwriter, singer, and guitar player. Not many artists can claim fame in all of the categories. He is just about without equal. His songs have been covered by many legendary artists including the Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Thorogood, The Rolling Stones, Keith Richards (who later co-produced the documentary movie on Berry, 'Hail Hail Rock And Roll'), and more.

Berry also bridged the gap between races, at a time when there was so much civil unrest in America. Music has a way of doing that. And at 85, Chuck Berry is still performing live dates from time to time. Check out some videos as we wish Chuck Berry a happy 85th!:
