One of the masters of the horror genre is back with his first movie in over 10 years.  John Carpenter is responsible for such classics as 'The Thing' and 'Halloween'.  Now he is back in the director's chair for 'The Ward'.

It looks like an awesome return.  The story centers around a woman who is institutionalized in a place where other residents begin disappearing one by one.  The halls are stalked by an evil presence.  This one looks to have all the suspense and terror that Carpenter is known for.

I think my favorite John Carpenter directed film just might be 'Escape From New York'.  Kurt Russell was fantastic in the role of 'Snake Pliskin' in a futuristic New York where the entire city was in ruin and decay.

The new John Carpenter film 'The Ward' is in theaters July 8th.  Check out the official trailer  below.  Scary stuff.  (via movies.msn.com)
