Unless you’ve been living under a rock this week, you know that Wylie Little League has made waves in Abilene and the Big Country. The hometown team has made it to the Little League World Series, and you’re in luck if you’re looking to support the team or tune in from home.

Fans wanting to catch the team in Game 8 of the Series won’t need to stray far from their TV sets or the ESPN+ app. The game will air on Friday, August 20, 2021, starting at 7:00 PM ET (5:00 PM CENTRAL) on ESPN 2. There’s no word yet on who Wylie will play in that game.

It’s obvious that these young athletes have practiced extensively to make it to this level of competition. The fact that this amazing team is in Abilene’s backyard just makes their victories sweeter and their participation that much more important.

This level of competition isn’t without its challenges and expenses for the athletes, their coaches, supporters, and families. Everybody’s favorite local venue, Potosi Live, has stepped up to the plate to help. On Sunday, August 15, 15% of Potosi Live’s sales will go toward Wylie Little League’s travel expenses to the Little League World Series. In a Facebook post from August 11, Potosi Live even encourages patrons to mention the flyer to make sure the team receives every penny they deserve.

Nothing really beats hometown youth sports (and awesome hometown establishments that support them when it matters most). Sunday, August 15 is a great opportunity for the community to come out to Potosi Live, enjoy some amazing food from Boiling Tails and JJ’s Barbecue, and support a great group of athletes who will represent Abilene and the Big Country on a global scale.

Go Wylie Little League!
