The Van Halen soap opera continues. The latest word is that the supposedly completed new album with David Lee Roth is postponed until early next year. And now the band might be changing labels.

Van Halen has been with Warner Brothers Records through their entire career, releasing eleven albums through the record company over 35 years. 35 years? Does that seem possible? Yep. It really has been that long since Van Halen signed with Warner Brothers. And the first album was released 33 years ago in 1978.

The band is said to be in negotiations with Columbia Records on a possible deal for the new album and future releases, according to Van Halen News Desk. However, as of now, the band is still officially on Warner Brothers. Does all of this begin to sound like the Guns 'n Roses 'Chinese Democracy' situation, where an album is supposedly 'in the can' but tied up in limbo for an extended period? There's obviously a lot of 'dysfunction' with this band that would lead fans to draw parallels with GNR.

Van Halen reunited with David Lee Roth on a very successful 2007 tour. Check out a song from that reunion: (via vhnd.com)
