The Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union (ATFCU) is once again investing in our students and the future of our country. ATFCU has announced it will award at least $15,000 in college scholarships to eligible high-school seniors graduating in the spring of 2026.

First off, I am a huge fan of Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union (ATFCU). I have been an active member ever since I got my first job in my teens. If I made any money, I would put it away to invest in my future. I know firsthand how much they care about families in our community. From financial education to supporting local fundraisers and now offering scholarships. ATFCU continues to prove that it is more than a credit union; ATFCU is a community partner.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Student must be a member of ATFCU with an account in their own name on or before November 11th, 2025.
  • Graduated in May or June 2026
  • Plan to attend college as a full-time student for the 2026-2027 academic year
  • Cannot be related to an ATFCU employee, board member, or supervisory committee member

Applicants will be evaluated on:

  • Academic achievement
  • Extracurricular involvement
  • Employment history
  • Essay response
  • Demonstrated financial responsibility

This scholarship rewards not only grades, but commitment, leadership, and work ethic.

How to Apply

Students (or parents helping them along) can open an account in person or online.
If opening at a branch, bring:

  • Social Security card
  • Driver’s license or official ID

And if you know a young person who deserves this opportunity, a relative, neighbor, or someone from church or sports, encourage them to open an account before November 11th. The sooner the account is opened, the sooner the student is eligible.

Investing in Our Next Generation

I love writing about opportunities like this because it’s local, it’s positive, and it changes futures. College is expensive, and scholarships like these can take a real financial burden off families.

ATFCU believes in our students.

Now it’s time for our students to believe in themselves and apply.
