Blue Bell Released Honey Vanilla: What Flavor Is Your Favorite?
In Texas, we take two things seriously: our traditions and our ice cream. And when Blue Bell makes an announcement, folks from Abbott to Zavalla, Texas, we all start paying attention. This spring, the Brenham-based company isn’t just introducing a new flavor, they’re hitting the road across the Lone Star State with free ice cream in their new Blue Bell Truck & Trailer.

Meet the New Flavor: Honey Vanilla
Blue Bell’s first new flavor of the year is Honey Vanilla, smooth vanilla ice cream blended with the mild sweetness of honey. Here are the hard facts, in my opinion:
- It’s simple
- It’s classic
- It’s Texas.
Company leaders say it was created for fans who appreciate flavors done right without a lot of extras. And if you know Blue Bell, you know that’s where they live. Vanilla has always been a staple in Texas kitchens, topping cobbler, paired with brownies, or enjoyed straight from the carton after a long day.
Honey Vanilla feels like the next chapter in that story. Honestly, I believe that as soon as I get out of the studio today, I'm going to buy some sopapillas to go with this new flavor, a marriage made in the Lone Star State. Below are flavors from the past and some that are still around. Find your favorite flavor:

The Lone Star Scoop Tour Is Coming
Here’s where it gets fun. Blue Bell has unveiled a brand-new, beautiful blue colored truck and trailer and is launching the Lone Star Scoop Tour Across Texas. The tour will travel across Texas later this year, stopping off to support community events and sharing the product throughout the Lone Star State.
From there, the colorful Blue Bell truck will roll through cities, including:
- San Antonio
- Houston
- Austin
- Dallas
- Lubbock
- Laredo
- And many stops in between
At these Lone Star Scoop tours, one can expect hand-dipped ice cream, frozen snacks, and merchandise along the way. According to my friends at Blue Bell, Faron Bell and Jerry Don Black, who say "the tour is designed to celebrate our communities, and to spread the Blue Bell love to all who have supported our company for more than a century."
That’s about as Texas as it gets.
More Than Just Ice Cream
Around here, I’ve always called Blue Bell the “Official Ice Cream of Texas.” And I’m sticking with that. I firmly believe that Ice cream brings people together. Frankly, if they served Blue Bell at United Nations meetings, we might solve a lot more world problems.
A Friendly Fearless Reminder About Limited Flavors
Blue Bell is known for rotating flavors throughout the year. Some become staples. Others are seasonal. A few show up for a short time, then ride off into the Texas sunset. If Honey Vanilla hits your sweet spot, grab it while you can, and let's make it a regular Texas staple.
Because Texans have learned one thing over time, when a Blue Bell flavor disappears, folks remember.
