Texas Honors the WASP of WWII With a "Journey Above the Stars"

Get ready for a "Journey Above The Stars" during a memorable weekend at the WASP Homecoming & Airshow at the WASP WWII Museum in Sweetwater, Texas. If you like history, you're going to fall in love with the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) WWII Museum.

The National WASP WWII Museum in Sweetwater is celebrating the 82nd anniversary of the Women Airforce Service Pilots. This museum celebrates the important contributions and history that the WASP made during World War II. The museum in Sweetwater is located near the field where many of the WASP were trained.

The best way to honor America’s first women to fly a military aircraft and assist the war effort is by attending and honoring the WASP legacy. The museum's Hangar-1 will be hosting guest speakers like Susan Kilrain - Astronaut, Eileen Bjorkman - USAF (ret), Erin Miller - WASP Granddaughter, Sarah Byrn Rickman - Historian.

Organizers will also be hosting a "Rendezvous Dinner-Dance Fundraiser" in Hangar-2 of the WASP Museum. There will also be a fly-in, so remember to bring your lawn chairs for the airshow. There will be exhibits, live music and much more.

On Saturday, join the crowd at "Sunset On The Square" in downtown Sweetwater on the corner of Oak and Broadway from 7 PM until 11 PM. There will be a live band, street dance, food trucks, and shopping. This event is free to the public.
