How One Texas Night Helps Save Thousands of Homeless Dogs
If you know me, you know this is one of my absolute favorite nights of the year. It’s where 'WE' pet lovers come together with our pets, dress them up, laugh a lot, eat incredibly well, and most importantly, save lives.

The 2026 Wild West Fur Ball benefiting Rescue the Animals SPCA is officially saddling up, and this year’s theme is all about cowboys, cowgirls, and canines. Think bandanas, boots, hats, wagging tails, and a whole lot of heart.
Every Pawprint Has a Purpose
Rescue the Animals SPCA is kicking off its 28th year of saving lives, and in 2025 alone, nearly 2,000 dogs were rescued from abuse, neglect, and abandonment. That doesn’t happen by accident, and it doesn’t happen without this event.
The Wild West Fur Ball isn’t just a party.
It’s a lifeline.
Rescue the Animals receives no funding from national humane organizations and no funding from the City of Abilene. Every rescue, every recovery, every second chance exists because this community shows up.
With rescue partners in 47 states and Canada, they’re ready to help, but only if we keep backing them.
Dinner for Humans, Dinner for Dogs
One of the best parts? Nobody goes hungry, especially the fur babies.
- People's food is prepared by the legendary Perini Ranch Steakhouse
- Doggie dinner is provided by Pam’s Pets and Fish
Yes, your dog eats free. And yes, they eat better than most of us do on a regular night.
Dancing, Auctions, Raffles & Western Fun
- This is a full-blown Wild West celebration:
- Dinner and dancing
- Live and silent auctions
- Raffles
- Costumes for dogs (and humans)
- A packed dance floor
- And a room full of people who genuinely love animals
As always, I’ll be there live, enjoying dinner, emceeing, and hanging out with some of my favorite four-legged friends.
Why This Night Matters So Much
Over the years, I’ve done some wild things to bring attention to homeless animals, living in a kennel, chaining myself to a doghouse, broadcasting live to make people stop and think. But nights like the Fur Ball remind me why it’s all worth it.
This one night helps fund:
- Emergency rescues
- Medical care
- Spay and neuter programs
- Shelter partnerships
- Forever homes for animals who desperately need them
Saddle Up and Save Lives
Whether you sponsor a table, buy a ticket, donate, or simply show up ready to dance, you are the reason these animals survive.
So dust off those boots, grab your hat, dress up your pup, and join us in Abilene for a night where fun meets purpose.
Let’s make 2026 the most powerful year yet.
Unleash your generosity.
Be the reason they get a second chance.
