How To Protect Yourself From Vehicle Break-Ins
Let me be clear, it is never my intention to blame a victim of a crime, as the fault lies 100% on the absolute doo-doo person who did this.
However, the best way to eliminate a criminal of this type is to starve them to death. Never leave anything valuable inside your unattended car. I realize this is easier said than done, but it's important to protect your belongings and your identity. Many car break-ins happen because the thief sees an opportunity worth the risk, like purses, packages, boxes, etc.
If you must leave something in your vehicle, keep it in your trunk. Of course, criminals can still get into your trunk, but at least it's more obvious, and it takes more time to deal with. Store your items there before you get to your destination if possible, so if anyone is staking out the area, they don't see your loot. Always lock your vehicle, keep windows rolled up, and never, ever leave a firearm in your vehicle. Try to park in a well-lit, surveilled area if possible.
