Don’t Throw These Away: Where to Dispose of Paint, Tires, and Electronics in Lubbock

Don't let your garage become the final resting place for half-empty paint cans, mystery electronics, and old, worn-out tires! You don't have to let them sit there collecting dust forever. Make room for new junk!

Old Paint

If you have old oil-based paint or other hazardous household chemicals to get rid of, take them to the City of Lubbock Household Hazardous Waste program at the Southside Citizens Convenience Station.

Drop-offs are by appointment only, so be sure you call ahead of time before you start loading up a bunch of hazardous stuff into your vehicle! Not something you want to drive around with more than you have to. If you have latex paint that has totally dried out or hardened, that can generally be thrown away with the rest of your household trash.

Old Tires

The City of Lubbock will accept up to 4 passenger vehicle tires per household every single year at the Citizens Convenience Station. If you are buying new tires at a shop, many tire shops will offer to recycle your old tires for a small fee. I usually opt to let them handle it. Easy peasy.

Old Electronics

Don't let broken TVs, computers, old phones, printers, and other electronics end up in a landfill when they can be recycled, guys! The Citizens Convenience Station will also accept tons of your old electronics, making it very easy to clear out the old junk drawer full of random items. Also, just to be safe, erase personal data from your gadgets before dropping them off.
