5 East Texas Locations for National Drug Take Back Day

(East Texas) The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is happening Saturday (October 24). Now is the time to go through your cabinets where you keep your medication to see if you still have any unused prescription medications. If you do, here's a safe way to properly dispose of them so that these prescriptions don't accidentally fall into the hands of those who could abuse them. There will be several locations throughout East Texas where you can drop off unused prescriptions in Smith, Henderson, Harrison, and Rusk Counties.

Why Proper Prescription Drug Disposal Matters

The Marshall Police Department posted on its social media, saying the majority of those who misuse prescription medication obtain it from a family member or friend. They go on to say that pharmaceutical drugs can be as dangerous as any drug that is bought off the street. So, if you've had a medical procedure lately and were prescribed painkillers and didn't use the full prescription, here's an easy way to give them up so that they don't land in someone else's hands.

Where to Drop Off Unused Medications in East Texas

In partnership with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), special drop-off locations will be open this Saturday throughout East Texas where you can surrender unused or expired prescription medications.
