Get ready, Lubbock! This Saturday, the abandoned vehicle auction is back and better than ever! Well, I don't know about that last part, but I promise it's back.

So, go ahead and mark your calendars, because on Saturday, June 13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., doors open at Lubbock Wrecker Service on 3209 East Slaton Highway.

This is where the Lubbock Police Department actually auctions off abandoned and impounded vehicles that they have come into possession of. Who knows, you may just find a gem among the selections.

Sneak a Peek on Inspection Day

If you haven't decided yet if you want to attend on Saturday, then you may want to take advantage of inspection day. This is when all vehicles will be out on display to be looked at, in person, before the auction even begins.

Here is where you can see photos of some of the selections.

Inspection day will be on Thursday, June 11, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lubbock Wrecker Service address.

Lubbock Abandoned Vehicle Auction Rules

There are some things you need to know before you swing by the auction this weekend. For instance, all vehicles are sold as is. Even if that bumper is about to fall off or it's missing a tire, that's what you're getting if you buy it.

If you end up winning a bid on a vehicle, you will be given a Police Auction Sales Receipt Form 71-1. This is just a fancy piece of paper that you take to the County Tax Assessor to finalize your new purchase. Only Texas residents may bid. Car titles will not be issued to non-residents.

In order to bid, you must receive a yellow sticker with a unique bidding number. All guests will receive an orange sticker signifying that they are not allowed to bid.

Bidders can only view each vehicle. They cannot open any doors, trunks, or any latches on the vehicles. Keys will only be provided to winning bidders after the sale is complete.

Oh, one last thing: Cash is not accepted. The only forms of payment that LPD will accept during the auction are debit/credit card or a check.

You can check out the full list of payment details on the Lubbock Police Department webpage.

Don't forget about the abandoned vehicle auction happening this weekend right here in Lubbock!
