Texas Led the Nation in Annual Job Growth Over Last 12 months

Not only is Texas one of the largest states in the country, it's also consistently leading in job growth and workforce expansion. The past 12 months have been a testament to how perfect a state Texas is for businesses and entrepreneurs alike.

Gov. Abbott Celebrates Texas

In a recent announcement from Gov. Greg Abbott, he touts the fortitude of Texas' pro-business economy. He also highlighted the latest achievement that The Lone Star State earned following August's labor market data from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).

According to market data from August 2025 to August 2026, Texas led the other 49 states in additional nonfarm jobs at an impressive 159,400 new positions filled. When it comes to adding jobs at the fastest annual rate, Texas is once again at the top of the nation with an impressive 1.1% growth rate over the past 12 months.

In addition to the impressive job growth numbers over the past year from Texas' economy, here are the other highlights from TWC's released labor market:

• With a gain of 10,900 people over the last 12 months, the Texas labor force totaled 15,932,600
• Total Texas nonfarm jobs came out to 14,469,300 after gaining 5,600 jobs in August alone
• Total working Texans came to 15,225,100 by the end of the 12 months
