The costumes are set, the map of where you're going trick-or-treating in Amarillo is plotted, and you've decided who is staying home this year to hand out the candy. In other words, you should be all set for Halloween at this point.

The kids are bouncing off the walls waiting for Saturday- well, at least my four-year-old is- and you're having to hide the candy you've purchased so the kids don't start digging into the stash intended for other kiddos. The question is, what candy are you hiding?

Top Candy Purchased In Texas

Every year, we see new candy introduced for the holiday, and while it can be intriguing, it never ends up being some of the top candy purchased. Furthermore, each state tends to have different candy that is in its top three.

When it comes to Texas, we don't tend to vary too much from the candy that we purchase. We have our favorites that we like to buy, and to be honest, the kids have their favorites that they like to get. Let's take a look at the top three candies purchased in Texas based on bulk sales.

#3: Starburst

This is always a favorite here in Texas, and I can get behind it. There's something about the sweet, yet tart flavor of a Starburst that just makes you want to eat another...then another. When it comes to fruit-flavored candy, this is probably my favorite, and it seems to be echoed across the state.

Over 920,000 pounds of Starburst are purchased each year in Texas to hand out to the kids.

#2: Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

Checking in at number two is my all-time personal favorite, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. I love some peanut butter and chocolate, so put them together in a sugary concoction and it's all over for me. In fact, my kids will each give me one or two of them from their stash, then hide the rest so I don't steal them all.

Each year, Texas purchases right around 920,000 pounds to hand out. It ranks number one when it comes to having candy DoorDashed. Let me know if you have some; I'll get dressed up and stop by.

#1: Sour Patch Kids

Taking the top spot on the list? Those angry little Sour Patch Kids. Ok, so they aren't really all that angry; in fact, they're delicious. Texas loves sour candies, so this makes perfect sense to be at number one.

Over 974,000 pounds of Sour Patch Kids are sold annually, and it's our number one candy for Halloween.

10 Halloween Candy Favorites - How Far Would You Have to Walk To Burn Those Calories?

There is a reason why we are supposed to walk when we go trick-or-treating on Halloween night. We're supposed to burn those calories. But since most of us will consume a bag of candy, or two, before the night we're supposed to wait for, we thought it might be handy to know just how much effort it's going to take to offset the caloric intake of each tasty morsel.
