An individual from Texas is alleging that American Airlines did not handle a situation involving an emergency landing. What led to both the lawsuit and the flight having to land somewhere other than it's intended destination? Here's what is known at the time of writing.

When Did American Airlines Have A Flight Issue?

As revealed by Denver7, an American Airlines flight heading to the state of Texas from Colorado on March 13th, 2025, encountered a major issue. Around the time of 5:15 PM, "engine vibrations," which were originally noticed by the crew, led to the plane landing in Denver, Colorado. After the plane safely touched ground and was making its way to a gate, the engine on the plane suddenly caught fire.

Acting quickly, passengers onboard were evacuated. In total, 178 people were on the plane, 172 being passengers and six being crew members. Sadly, 12 unidentified person were taken to a medical facility for injuries considered minor.

Nearly a month later, one of the passengers is now saying the issue could have been prevented before the plane took off.

What Is The Passenger Claiming In A Lawsuit Towards The Airline?

The passenger, Jerry Adamson, has brought forth legal action to American Airlines for two things: misconduct and negligence. According to legal documents reported by Denver7:

“As a direct and proximate result of the negligent conduct of Defendants, Mr. Adamson has suffered, and will continue to suffer, injuries, damages and losses, including but not limited to past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish and emotional distress."

Furthermore, Denver7 revealed that the lawsuit said crew members "failed to properly follow emergency checklists and standard operating procedures, request timely emergency assistance, orderly evacuate the plane and move passengers away from the burning engine."

As this is a developing story, we will have more information when it becomes available.

It's hard to believe, but we're only three months in 2025 here in the state of Texas. Time feels like it moving slower than usual, but it also feels like it's flying by. Speaking of flying, the Austin airport is also very busy as well.
