A Former Mexican President Is Buried In El Paso
A former Mexican President/Dictator, arrested by American authorities was buried, (after he died, of course), in El Paso.
I'm pretty sure he's the only foreign President/Dictator ever buried in the United States of America and he's absolutely the only one buried in the 915. Victoriano Huerta was buried here twice - first in El Chuco's most historic cemetery then moved to another one.
Huerta was a well known General when he led a coup against then President Francisco Madero. (Madero himself had assumed the Presidency by military means.) Madero would later be killed by the new regime which was never recognized by the US because POTUS Woodrow Wilson believed Huerta had killed Madero himself.
The Mexican Revolution
This really kicked the Mexican Revolution into high gear.
No real proof of Huerta’s responsibility had appeared but his guilt was widely accepted and several groups rose in armed opposition to him. A deadly but indecisive period of civil war between the troops of Huerta and those of Venustiano Carranza, Francisco Villa, and Emiliano Zapata followed. - dukeupress
Huerta flees Mexico
In 1915, Huerta was on the run but war between the US and Germany was brewing and the Germans, who had been friendly with Huerta when he was the Mexican Prez, offered to fund Huerta in a new revolution. Germany's hope was that, just like the previous revolution, all the skirmishes and annoyances would keep the US too busy to bother them. The U.S. was watching Huerta though.
Huerta came to America, traveling from New York to California, all the while making huge deals with the Germans. The US, along with many other groups, did not want him back in Mexico. Using his plot against the US as legal grounds to arrest him, his train was met in Newman, on the Texas - New Mexico line in far northeast El Paso.

He was arrested without incident but soon made bail and was pretty much treated like a king. Germany finally ratted him out though, he was re-arrested and while being held started drinking heavily and got pretty sick. He was held at Fort Bliss but, when he got sick, was allowed to go to a home in El Paso his wife had moved into on Yandell.
Huerta died following an emergency surgery performed at the home that many think was a setup, the doctor being, basically, a hitman. It's said that no anesthesia was used and the incisions were left open by the "doctor". He was buried in Concordia but later moved to Evergreen. The Evergreen "find a grave" site couldn't locate his.
