There are some mysteries that have baffled people in Texas and all over the USA for ages. One of the biggest has just been solved.

Up until about 80 years ago, sausages ... like all the other meats ... were sold by the pound. At an industry standard of 1.6 ounces per dog, it takes 10 to make 1 pound. Ain't nobody got time fer counting individual dogs so you get 'em in 10's. Period.

Why Do Buns Come In 8's?

For the same reason, really - industry standards. Bakeries usually do their buns in 4's in pans that bake 8 at a time. Just as ain't nobody got time to count weenies; ain't nobody got time to revamp kitchens or redesign pans just to match the dog count.

Knowledge is power.
