Former Abilenian and frontman for Johnny Dee and The Rocket 88's, Keith Landers has died. He died on Monday night (October 17th) after returning home in Austin from dialysis treatment.  Landers grew up in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High in 1969.  He moved to Austin in the 1970s to form the band 'Cadillac'. Later they became known as 'Johnny Dee And The Rocket 88's', and played countless shows across the entire nation over the last three decades plus.

The band performed in Abilene many times, playing a mix of Oldies and Classic Rock.  They always put on a great stage show, featuring costume changes and an array of instruments to perform the music of Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, and other legends. Landers was still actively touring with the band, and resided in Austin.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and fans.
