Lady Gaga Tells Howard Stern She Doesn’t Care If Madonna Hates Her + More
Lady Gaga returned to 'The Howard Stern Show' this morning (Nov. 12) and of course, the world's best interviewer got her to talk about how she really feels about Madonna and her relationship with Taylor Kinney, as well as her feud with Perez Hilton.
There were no softball questions lobbed at Gaga, and she and Stern had a terrific chemistry back and forth for nearly two hours.
It was like Gaga gave her first wide open interview for 'ARTPOP' in the Stern studio.
Here are the key things we learned.
She doesn't care what you think. "Not everyone in the world loves me and I am okay with it. If half the people in the world don't hate you, then you're doing something wrong," she said. "I do not make music…to be worshipped by people as Princess Gaga. In fact, it makes me uncomfortable. I just want to make music and perform songs."
She doesn't care that Madonna doesn't like her. When Stern said, "Madonna is jealous and knocks you," she replied, "There's not so many ways you can interpret it. You can look at it that way. I think she is more aggravated that I am not upset that she doesn't like me. I don't care that she doesn't like me."
She is not hearing wedding bells right now. But when she does, her dream wedding would be at David's Bridal, with the groom and groomsmen on one side and her and the bridesmaids on the other, getting hammered, picking the worst dresses and going to the courthouse.
She and Taylor Kinney go for days without speaking. "We don't have any rules about calling each other at certain times," she said about their easy, trust-based relationship with the 'Chicago Fire' actor. "We go days at a time without talking, then we'll talk every day. The way that it works is that we trust each other. He is on his journey and I am on mine and we're gypsies and when we're together, we're really in love."
They also go for weeks at a time without seeing each other. It sucks, but she's okay with it. "This is the nature of what we…we're connected since we're both creative people…I'm not famous to him," she said. "I'm his baby."
She is dunzo with Perez Hilton. About their feud, she explained, "I don't really care anymore. It's rooted in Madonna. It's silly…there's this thing with some people, I'm a threat to the throne. I have my own, thanks. I don't view myself as a queen. I view myself like one of my fans."
She explained that the blogger was being negative about 'Born This Way' during an interview and talking down to her, which caused her to cry. She took two days out of her schedule and saw his actions as being like "I am Perez Hilton, I am allowed to do this." She said, "He is mad that I don't want to hang out with him anymore. I don't want to be around fake people. He was framing questions like I was a failure, but I took time out to do this and you're supposed to be my friend, you think you're entitled to harass me on film because I've had a whiskey?...If we were in a bar in New York, I'd knock your teeth out."
Other fun facts?
Gaga's tour clothes are most important to her since she wears them 150 times and they connect her to fans because she is wearing them when she performs for them. That's why she bought Michael Jackson's stage clothes, so she could preserve and protect them. She plans to put them in a museum and donate any earnings from it to charity.
She has been talking about doing an acoustic album with Rick Rubin, with whom she worked on 'Dope.' She does not want monsters to defend her online and get nasty to others while doing so. She is fine with people hating her and is not looking to create the culture of meanness.
Gaga performed 'Dope' and 'Gypsy,' as well. She also made a donation to Stern's favorite animal charity, to show her love for animals despite her war with PETA.
