Former astronauts John Glenn, Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong, and Michael Collins were honored on Tuesday (November 15th) with the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest honor bestowed by Congress.  Armstrong was first to walk on the moon.  Aldrin was the second.  John Glenn, now a Congressman himself, was the first to orbit the earth in 1962.  And Michael Collins was the Apollo 11 command module pilot.  The ceremony was held in the Capitol Rotunda, and included Norah Jones singing 'America The Beautiful'.

Images of these men are etched on the collective consciousness of Americans who watched the first moon landing on tv.  They were and are real life heroes.  It's fitting that they receive this honor.  Check out highlights from the ceremony, including the words of all four men on the occasion, in the video below:  (via Dispatch.com)
