Motown guitarist and original member of 'The Miracles' Marv Tarplin has died at the age of 70.  Tarplin was known as Motown's 'secret weapon' playing on dozens of hit records.  He co-wrote several all time classics with Smokey Robinson including 'Tracks Of My Tears', 'Going To A Go Go', 'Cruisin', and 'Ain't That Peculiar'.  Smokey and Marv also penned 'I'll Be Doggone' for Marvin Gaye.

The cause of death at present is unknown.  Tarplin died this past Friday, September 30th, according to my source for this story eurweb.com.  Check out a video of Tarplin in action with Smokey Robinson on 'Cruisin':
