The George Harrison documentary 'Living In The Material World', produced by Martin Scorsese, is raking in the awards nominations.  The 3-hour production is arguably the most in depth look at the life of George Harrison ever produced, with rare footage, home movies, interviews with George and the people who knew him best, and of course music.

It's been released on DVD in England, but U.S. fans are waiting for that release until some time in March.  The documentary aired on HBO over two nights this past October, and it is expected to garner a few more nominations here in the United States.

'Living In The Material World' is nominated for a 'Critics Choice' award for 'Best Documentary Feature'.  It's also received nods from The Directors Guild Of America for 'Outstanding Directorial Achievement' for Scorsese.  And the British Academy Film Awards nominated it for 'Best Edited Documentary'.

If you haven't seen 'Living In The Material World' yet, it will be well worth the time to check it out on it's U.S. release scheduled for Spring (2012).  The DVD package includes a CD with unreleased outtakes and alternate versions of George Harrison songs as well.  Check out a seldom seen video of George with Bob Dylan on a sound check preceding the 'Concert For Bangladesh':  (via UltimateClassicRock.com)
