Movies to Watch in February 2017: On Demand With ScreenCrush
The clock is ticking down to the 2017 Academy Awards. With so few days and nights left before the big show, which of the nominees should you watch? That’s where our series, On Demand With ScreenCrush, comes in. Every two weeks, ScreenCrush Editor-in-Chief Matt Singer joins you to recommend three handpicked new titles you can watch at home right now from Movies on Demand. These are big new releases you won’t find streaming on Netflix, and the choices run the gamut from indie favorites, to major blockbusters, to insightful documentaries, and everything in between — all available with your remote.
In our thirteenth installment, awards season is heating up, and we’ve got three of the hottest titles of 2016. In Manchester By the Sea, Best Actor frontrunner Casey Affleck stars as a man forced to care for his nephew after the death of his brother. Brothers are the focus of Hell or High Water too, although the ones played by Chris Pine and Ben Foster are bank robbers on a crime spree across Texas. And you’ve never seen a movie like Moonlight, which chronicles three periods in the life of a young African American boy growing up in Miami. No matter what kind of awards contender you want, you’ll find it On Demand.
On Demand With ScreenCrush is a brand new original series about the world of movies. This is our thirteenth episode, but we’ll be back with a new show next week. Plus, we want your feedback. What are you watching On Demand this month? Which 2016 releases are you looking forward to seeing again? What did you think of our recommendations?
