According to the Internet Database of Cults, The House of Yahweh is a religious group founded in Eula by Buffalo Bill Hawkins, who later changed his name to Yisrayl Hawkins. The group claims they follow the teachings of the Bible closely, but have been the subject of controversy and criticism by both the public and former members.
The House of Yahweh believes they are the only true followers of the teachings of the Bible and that all other religions have drifted away from the Bible's true message. The group strictly observes the Sabbath and Old Testament feasts. They use the sacred names of God and Jesus, or Yahweh and Yeshua, respectively.
They also follow the teachings of Yisrayl Hawkins, who died in 2021. Hawkins was believed to have been a prophet.
However, the House of Yahweh has faced numerous legal issues over the years. They have been accused of being a cult, with former members coming forward claiming they were subjected to mind control and manipulation. Yisrayl Hawkins himself was arrested in the past on charges related to child labor and bigamy.
Despite all the controversy, the House of Yahweh continues to operate in Eula, with many followers who believe in their teachings. They have also expanded their reach through the use of their website and social media page, where they share their views with a much larger audience.
Hopefully the above sheds some light on the mystery behind this group of folks and their beliefs. Whether you see them as a true religious group or something else entirely, the House of Yahweh is part of the fabric of the Abilene area.
