Rocker Neil Young is penning his memoirs for release next year. He joins a growing list of artists writing their autobiographies, including Keith Richards, Sammy Hagar, and Steven Tyler.

Neil will have plenty to write about. His storied life and career involves legendary bands Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, not to mention an extensive catalog of inventive solo albums.

Neil Young is rock's changeling. He's tried his hand at almost every music form, and arguably has invented a couple. From country, to rockabilly, to metal there's a Neil Young album for you. The album 'Trans' featured Neil working with Nils Lofgren on some electronica. It didn't sell well, but remains one of my favorite albums by him. The use of the vocoder along with memorable melodies make it extremely intriguing and fun to listen to. The title of the book is 'Waging Heavy Peace'. Appropriate. Release is scheduled for sometime in the fall of 2012. Check out a video of one of Neil's signature songs, 'Needle And The Damage Done': (via RollingStone.com)
