"An Evening with Emmitt Smith" will take place May 18th at the Abilene Convention Center. This fundraising event is hosted by the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health in Abilene.

After his playing days, Smith served as a football analyst and then took his television career a step further when he won the third season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars, during which he was dubbed "the king of effortless cool." He also added author to his list of accomplishments, publishing Game On, which outlines the principles that helped him succeed both on and off the field. Currently, Smith has transitioned to the role of businessman and entrepreneur and runs several companies spanning real estate, construction and technology. [Laura W. How much are tickets to this event?

Individual tickets are $200 and based on availability. However, you might as well get a group together to enjoy this. Individual tables are $1,500 and can seat up to 8 people. Going that route will save you some money while also ensuring you know everyone at the table.

Stephanie DeLaGarza, from the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health, has this to say about donations to the Institute:

Your contributions will stay right here in Abilene improving the lives of women and girls in the Big Country and around the world. The Institute is funding modern-day research that proves that some diseases react differently in men and women. The Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health in Abilene supports women's health-related research that is happening right here in our community by local scientists. The science is being translated into education for health care workers. On a grassroots level, public outreaches are held to inspire women to expect nothing less than personalized medicine because differences matter.
