Nine Inch Nails leader Trent Reznor has confirmed that the long-awaited third EP in the band’s trilogy series will be released before the end of June. The record follows Not the Actual Events and Add Violence, which were released seven months apart in 2016 and 2017.

Explaining the delay in the as-yet unnamed third release, Reznor told BBC 6 Music (via NME) that the band “started out with a rigid concept, having not written them all. As we finished Add Violence, we found ourselves … it felt too predictable. It felt like we were forcing things. Musically and storytelling-wise. The reason this has been delayed is because it took us a while for—what has become the third EP—to reveal itself to us.”

Reznor noted that NIN were “in the process of finishing this right now” and that they expected it to be released before their upcoming European tour, which starts in London on June 22 and ends on July 14 in Madrid, with two Japanese dates on Aug. 17 and 19. He also said he and soundtrack collaborator Atticus Ross were working together on new material, but he didn't give any details.

Meanwhile, organizers of London’s Meltdown festival took action against retail site Viagogo after tickets for the NIN show on June 22 sold out instantly and they began offering them for £800 online. “It is against our terms and conditions to sell our tickets above face value for profit or commercial gain,” Meltdown operators tweeted to Viagogo. “Tickets purchased on your site for any #MeltdownFest concert are invalid. Please direct customers to us who will only pay face value for them.”
