An Open Letter To My Dad In Heaven This Father’s Day
To me, Father’s Day is a special time to reflect on the huge impact our dads have on our lives, guiding us, protecting us, and teaching us with unconditional love. I struggled with whether or not I was going to put all this out there. My dad was kind of a private man taken way too soon from a family he loved so much.
For those of us whose fathers are no longer with us, this day brings a blend of cherished memories. Today, I choose to celebrate the wonderful moments I shared with my dad. His spirit and lessons continue to guide me to this day.

Dear Dad,
Today, I thought about all the Father’s Days we spent together. The barbecues in the backyard, your laughter echoing throughout the house, and the way your eyes would light up with pride over even the smallest achievements. These memories are treasures locked within my heart, timeless and precious.
I miss you more than words can express. There are so many things I wish I could share with you - my challenges, my victories, and the simple everyday moments. I can still hear your advice in my head, reminding me to always stay true to myself and to treat others with kindness and respect. Your wisdom was always given in simple words, but they carried the weight of true understanding and love.
There are days when I feel your absence, a void that nothing can fill. But I also feel incredibly lucky to have had you as my dad. You taught me the importance of hard work, the value of honesty, and the significance of laughter. Even now, when I face a tough decision, I find myself asking, "What would Dad do?"
So, on this Father’s Day, I write this letter with a heart full of love and gratitude. Thank you for being my dad, my mentor, and my hero. I hope I make you proud, as you always made me feel proud to be your son.
Though you are no longer here physically, your legacy lives on through the lessons you taught me and the love you gave me.
Thank you, Dad, for everything.
This Father’s Day, while we remember and celebrate our dads who are no longer with us, let’s carry forth their lessons and love. To all who are feeling the absence of a loved one today, know that you are not alone in your memories and your mourning. Let’s honor them by living with the love they showed us, every single day.
