On Paul Simon's latest album, 'So Beautiful Or So What', there seems to be a lot of lyrical content about the afterlife.  And it may not be just coincide with the 70th birthday of the legendary singer-songwriter. Simon recently spoke to PBS about the subject matter on the album, and he says he didn't set out to write songs on that theme, but it might indeed have been due to his age, and musing on religion and what happens next:  'There seems to be a theme in the album, not intentional, and it’s funny because for somebody who is not a religious person, God comes up a lot in my songs.  I think it’s a part of my thoughts, on a fairly regular basis. I think of it more as spiritual feeling. It’s, it’s something that I recognize in myself and that I enjoy and I don’t quite understand it.'

The new album even features a song titled 'Afterlife' that's a humorous take on going up to heaven and waiting in line to meet the Almighty.  His lyrical wit is at full strength on the song, and it makes you think about the hereafter in a serious way too.  Check out the song, and by all means, check out the album.  It's brilliant:  (via PBS.org)
