Penguin ‘Happy Feet’ Headed Home [VIDEO]
The wayward penguin ‘Happy Feet’, who somehow ended up 3,000 miles from home in New Zealand, is finally pointing his feet in the right direction and swimming back towards Antarctica. You may have been following this story as it has captivated animal lovers world wide.
‘Happy Feet’ showed up in New Zealand after getting very confused and off course. 3,000 miles off course. When found on a beach in New Zealand, he was not in good shape. The penguin was not only confused but sick from eating sand, which he thought was snow. Hey, penguins don’t know what a beach is, unless of course it’s covered in frozen water.
The penguin was taken to a local zoo where he was treated, pampered, and fed. He was released over this past Labor Day weekend equipped with a tracking device so that scientists could make sure he was swimming in the right direction. Sure enough, reports today say that ‘Happy Feet’ is headed south, steadily on his way to Antarctica. Let’s hope the little guy can swim the full 3,000 miles over the next several weeks.
