A literary agent is shopping publishers for Pete Townshend's memoirs. I have no doubt that it will be a fascinating read. And I would bet that it won't take long to find a publishing company.

Pete had posted a three part prelude to the book on his now defunct website entitled 'Who he?', which just might be the name of the new tome. The first part dealt with his early and happy childhood with parents in 1946, the second segment featured traumatic reminiscences about abuse suffered when he lived with his maternal grandmother, and the third installment went into detail about the work leading up to the performance of 'Tommy' for the British press in 1969.

With the recent huge success of Keith Richard's autobiography, the timing is great for Pete's personal story. The difference in the two will be dramatic however. Keith's story is a wild amusement park ride. Townshend's will be a lot more of a psychological, and sometimes difficult read. He's got quite a few demons to exorcise, and much of the story is known from an outside perspective. It will be fascinating to view all of the debris from the inside.

The man is a musical genius in every sense of the word, and a lot of the music comes from Pete's 'issues'. Like that music, the bio promises to be deep and sometimes disturbing. More info will be forthcoming soon. Watch this space. (via Gibson.com)
