Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, and Robert Plant will be on hand in Los Angeles this Friday (November 4th) to announce the new UCLA Daltrey/Townshend Teen & Young Adult Cancer Program at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.  This program is a U.S. extension of Britain's Teenage Cancer Trust.  Daltrey, Townshend and The Who have been big supporters and contributors to the charity in the U.K. for many years.  They both seem pleased to have a platform for the cause stateside.

Daltrey, Townshend, and Plant will sign a guitar to be displayed in the new UCLA facility at the press conference this Friday.  The press release states "The vision of the UCLA Daltrey/Townshend Teen & Young Adult Cancer Program is to ensure that every young person receives the best possible care and professional support to help meet the unique physical and emotional challenges resulting from a cancer diagnosis."

With the holiday season approaching, there are plenty of worthwhile charities that need our help.  If you can, make plans to donate to one that's close to your heart.   Check out The Who performing 'Baba O'Reilly' at a benefit for the Teenage Cancer Trust last year (2010):   (via newsroom.ucla.edu)
