Peter Gabriel has always been an innovator, not only in music but in video. His videos for 'Sledgehammer', 'Big Time', and 'Shock The Monkey' broke new ground in what was possible in pairing a great song with a state-of-the-art video. Now Gabriel is releasing a concert movie in 3-D that will hit select theaters worldwide beginning on August 26th. The movie, titled 'Peter Gabriel: New Blood Live In London' was filmed on March 23rd of this year, and features Gabriel performing at London's Hammersmith Apollo with a 46-piece orchestra. The movie will be screened in 125 U.S. theaters on Tuesday, September 6th and on Monday, September 12th.

It might not make it to Abilene, but the concert movie will be released as a 3D, Blu Ray, and standard DVD on October 23rd, 2011. As you might expect the filming and cinematography, along with the stage effects are incredible. Songs include 'Solsbury Hill', 'In Your Eyes', and 'Red Rain', all presented in stripped down form with orchestra. Here's a video of Gabriel with his 'New Blood' orchestra performing 'In Your Eyes':
