'Hi Infidelity' was a make or break album for REO Speedwagon.  The band had been through numerous previous releases without much chart impact.  And even the rock solid album 'Nine Lives' only reached number 33 on the  charts.

At the point in time when REO was working on 'Hi Infidelity', they knew it was their last shot with their current record company.  The band worked with label 'repertoire' executives to tweak every song for commercial success, and the result paid off in platinum.  'Hi Infidelity' was the biggest selling album of 1981.

The remastered 30th anniversary edition of the album will include a second disc of previously unreleased demos.   It is set to be in stores and online July 19th.  The videos from the album were pretty cheesy, as with most MTV fare in 1981.  But they were memorable.  Here's the video for 'In Your Letter':
