Robert Plant keeps expanding his musical horizons. He joined a broadway-style tenor, Alfie Boe for a recent recording session. Boe is best know for his work singing lead in 'Les Miserables'. The song they recorded was a fairly obscure one written by Tim Buckley: 'Song To The Siren'.

It's a song that Plant recorded previously for his commercially unsuccessful album 'Dreamland' which features him performing several folk songs, and is actually very good. He apparently met Boe for the first time in a bar a few months back. The two hit it off and decided to take a shot at some studio time. 'Song To The Siren' actually introduced its writer Tim Buckley to the masses when he was featured singing it at the end of a Monkees episode.

Plant's original version is top notch. The new version will be featured on the Alfie Boe album titled simply 'Alfie'. It will be released on October 31st. Check out Robert Plant performing the song live: (via SundayMercury.net)
