Scorpions and spiders have been popping up at my house, and not just one or two either. OK, so I was eating dinner at home, when all of a sudden I felt something land on my head, not knowing what it was I brushed it off, it landed on the table, and there was a real-life straight from hell evil scorpion creature. I quickly brushed the critter onto the floor and stomped on it. Where did it come from? How about my air conditioning vent above the dinner table, and how did it get there and why?

Two nights later I’m lying in bed about to fall asleep when all of a sudden, the same thing happens again. Something lands on my head, I quickly brushed it off onto the floor, I spring out of bed to turn on the lights, you guessed it, another demonic scorpion creature.  I grabbed my house-shoes and stomped on it too.

The next night my daughter wakes me up at 4 AM screaming at me that she turned on the lights to discover another scorpion this time in the toilet. It dropped out from the exhaust fan on the ceiling and landed in our toilet. That’s it, I had to find out where they are at exactly, and why are these creepy devil creatures living in my attic, and how to get rid of them.

I cautiously climbed up into the attic only to investigate, only to discover two more scorpions running away from the attic door opening and I also found a brown recluse spider and a black widow. Okay game on, I called my exterminator friends to find out what I can do on the quick to rid my home of these invading creatures.

After a call to my exterminator friend Branson Hurt, the answers became very clear . With all the rains we have been blessed with comes the curse of the critters that love to exist in a hot and dry environment. All the critters I am eluding to are scorpions, brown recluse spiders, and black widow spiders.

The fix was easier said than done and it was gonna take some planning. Here’s what I have learned on how to rid ourselves of these creepy-crawly demonic little creatures that love to come out at night when we are trying to sleep.

Branson said the best and most effective chemicals to kill scorpions and most all spiders are called Permethrin, and Pyrethrins. Both chemicals come premixed in handy foggers that can place in the attic or throughout the house.

The most dangerous part is that when you start the foggers in the attic, you must get out fast without breathing in the fog or not falling through the ceiling (I almost did). The other important part is, all humans and pets must vacate the house being fogged and stay out, for approximately four to six hours before going back into the home.

After fogging the attic you'll need to spray around the interior and exterior perimeter of the house with the above-mentioned pesticides. In about 30 to 45 days we will need to repeat the process again. If for any reason you don't feel safe doing it like, how I got rid of these little critters, I advise you to think about calling in a professional exterminator to do the job for you.

By the way, the photo below shows the pesticide chemicals I was able to purchase and use on a weekend. The scorpion in the bottom of the 'Casa Fernandez' toilet bowl in the top photo, I was told by Branson with Pest Patrol that they can live up to 48 hours underwater.
