Several of the actors who voice Sesame Street characters are protesting budget cuts to Public Broadcasting.

Emilio Delgado (Luis), Roscoe Orman (Gordon), and Bob McGrath (Bob) were in Washington to let congress members know their opposition to the proposed cuts.

The House voted to end over $400 million in funding for the Corporation For Public Broadcasting, which produces programming including Sesame Street.

There's no doubt that the Sesame Street franchise would survive with its multiple outlets including merchandising, DVD's, downloads, and toys. The real issue is the access kids would have in the future.
The actors are asking the Senate to fully fund PBS.

This protest just highlights the budget shortfalls being experienced at the national, state, and local level. Nobody wants the cuts to affect their organization, their services, or their employment. But it is obvious with the economic situation that budgets must be cut, and that some programs will suffer. Tough decisions are being made at all levels. More on the story at tv.msn.com .
