This is frightening. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric administration or 'NOAA' as we usually refer to it, captured the actual sound of the devastating Japan earthquake on a hydrometer. These devices record sound underwater. The audio you will hear is sped up 16 times so that your ears can perceive the tone at a frequency above the actual subsonic level. It's scary and quite amazing too:
