The Statue Of Liberty will be 125 years old this Friday.  And after a commemorative ceremony to mark the anniversary this Friday morning, newly installed webcams in the torch will be turned on for viewing by the public.  This will be the first time since 1916 that these views have been seen, since that's when public access to the observation area in the torch was closed.

The five webcams will offer four different views including a 180 degree view of New York Harbor,  a view of the statue's tablet, and a downward shot of visitors on Ellis Island below.

The ceremony on Friday includes a water flotilla and a naturalization ceremony for 125 candidates for citizenship from over 40 countries.  Lady Liberty turns 125 and everyone gets to experience her view of New York via the internet.  The webcams were donated by Earthcam Incorporated and when they're active can b e viewed via a link  at www.nps.gov/stli or directly at www.earthcam.com/statueofliberty
