Eric Clapton led a musical tribute to Jack Bruce at his former Cream bandmate's funeral in North London earlier today, singing the Beatles' 'Strawberry Fields Forever' with help from friends and family.

Jack Bruce, bassist and singer of Cream, has died at the age of 71.

Jack Bruce, the former bassist and singer for Cream, will release a new album, ’Silver Rails,’ in March 2014. The record is his first solo effort since 2003’s ‘More Jack Than God.’

Former members of Dio, Whitesnake and the Scorpions will take part in a four-day, two-city music event, with special shows focusing on the music of Cream and the Scorpions.

Martin Sharp, who collaborated with Cream in the '60s, has died of emphysema. He was 71.

After just over two years as a band, Cream gave their final performance on Nov. 26, 1968. The concert was held at the Royal Albert Hall In England. Cream's decision to disband took fans by surprise, though simmering tensions within the band, primarily between Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, came to a head, as Eric Clapton was losing interest in the band. 'Disraeli Gears' was the second album Cream released in their ever so short career, and 46 years later, it still shines as their crowning achievement. Issued in November of 1967, the landmark LP saw Cream flipping the switch toward full-on psychedelia while remaining true to the blues roots of their 1966 debut.

On July 31, 1966, the Sixth National Jazz and Blues Festival was held at the Royal Windsor Racecourse in England. Among the usual assortment of artists you find at things like this was a new band called Cream, who were making their debut performance.

The working relationship among this group's three members was never an easy or uncomplicated one.

It's excessive, sure. But the statements this album makes are never anything but grand.

Cream have become the latest classic rock act to announce that they will be celebrating Record Store Day on April 20. The famous supergroup will release a three-LP of 'Live at the Royal Albert Hall' in an extremely limited run of only 1,500 copies.

Happy Birthday to Eric Clapton! He turns 66 years old today (3/30).  Eric lives at home with his wife and three daughters these days, and says his family keeps him well grounded. He's doing a series of shows at the Royal Albert Hall in England next month with his Blind Faith band mate Steve Winwood.
