Jon Stewart has been refreshingly honest in recent weeks about his decision to leave The Daily Show behind, and while we’ll never feel quite ready to say goodbye, we at least have time to prepare. The 16-year anchor has confirmed that he’ll take his final bow as host of The Daily Show this coming August.

Stewart made the announcement at the close of his Monday episode, setting his final Daily Show installment for Thursday, August 6. It isn’t known exactly when comedian Trevor Noah will take up the mantle however, as the new incarnation will likely require a bit of transition time.

While we’ve known of Stewart’s exit for some time, the revered host recently opened up on his decision to leave The Daily Show behind, particularly before the 2016 election cycle, noting that the process had become somewhat repetitive for him. “It’s not like I thought the show wasn’t working any more, or that I didn’t know how to do it,” said Stewart. “It was more, ‘Yup, it’s working. But I’m not getting the same satisfaction.’”

Stewart also announced an opportunity to win tickets to the final show, the proceeds going to benefit autism, as seen in the video above. Will the world be ready to say goodbye to Jon Stewart’s Daily Show on August 6?
