The Gaylord Texan’s ‘ICE!’ Show Celebrates Christmas With Rudolph
The Gaylord Texan hotel in Grapevine, Texas will be hosting their annual ICE! show November 9th through January 1st. Don't miss this amazing family friendly event.
The Gaylord hotel has it's own gardens, waterways, shopping and more and during this special season it has a Christmas show which includes the 'ICE!' exhibit.
This year's ICE! show theme is 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer'. Once again artisans from Harbin Japan will create an amazing story through ice sculpture.
Here are a few facts on what it takes to turn the hotel events room into a winter wonderland. It takes 2 million pounds of ice in 14 different colors and about a month to create the walk-thru exhibit. The ice is trucked in from an ice factory over a 3 week period and comes in clear, white and colored blocks.
The room is a constant 9 degrees so you are given a complimentary parka to wear as you make your way through the exhibit; however, gloves are not provided so be sure to take your own.
There are rooms of colorful sculptures to tell the story of Rudolph along with 5 two-story real ice slides that you can slide down as many times as you want. There is the Nativity scene that is featured each year. The Nativity scene is absolutely beautiful, done in clear and white ice that is back lit.
Check out the video below and the slide show of photos from my trip a few year's ago when the theme was 'Frosty the Snowman'.
