It was only a matter of time before I wrote about coffee. I absolutely love it. Even in this heatwave, Abilene is going through, I've got to have my coffee. If you'd cut my finger, coffee would come out. I mean I love coffee.

I'm sure I'm not the only one. Coffee is extremely popular. You may be enjoying a cup right this minute. If you're a coffee lover like me, you're going to be interested in what I uncovered. I went on a mission to find the most expensive cup of coffee in the world. The best of the best. Now, I'm not a coffee snob (well, maybe a little) but I've got to have a good, flavorful cup. I think I may have found it but it comes with a price and I'm not only talking about money.

There are those who only settle for the best. Money is no object. Well, a cup of this coffee is going to run you anywhere from $35 to $100 a cup. A cup. If you're willing to pay that price tag then maybe you're willing to go a little further. Hang onto your hat because you may be shocked at what I tell you. The best coffee bean in the world is called Kopi Luwak and comes from Indonesia from the poop of a civet. What in the world is a civet? A civet is a small, lean, mostly nocturnal mammal looking similar to a cat. I know you may be scratching your head as to how all this works. Stay with me and I'll explain.

Once digested and passed through the civet these coffee berries are then collected,  separated from the feces, thoroughly washed, and processed. At this point, they look more like a traditional coffee beans.

The final product is roasted civet coffee from Indonesia. Kopi Luwak.

Okay, that's all fine and good. But, what is it about this coffee and the process that makes it so good and desirable? The secret is when the coffee berry is digested by the civet. This digestion removes the bitterness from the coffee bean and the end result is one flavorful and extra smooth cup of coffee.

I'm just a coffee junkie. If given the opportunity, I'd try it. You bet. I wonder how much they charge for just a sip?
