UPDATE 9/1/2021:

The Paramount Theatre in Abilene, Texas has announced the cancellation of "Tangled", "Goldfinger," and "It's Only A Play". Ticketholders for these three shows should receive a full refund as of September 1, 2021.

The Paramount Theatre Presents Terrence McNally's classic 1982 off-Broadway play titled "It's Only A Play." The all-star cast is made up of local celebrities like the Paramount's Executive Director George Levesque playing the role of Peter Austin, Julia Budder is played by Rachel Rosser, Ira Drew is played by Scot Miller, Frank Finger is played by Mitchell Bradford, Virginia Noise is played by Paige Sproles, James Wicker is played by Caleb Robinson and Gus P. Head, is played by Tre' McLeod

This very sharp-witted comedy will be September 17th, 18th, 24th and 25th. Tickets are on sale now online. Content warning: this play is not recommended for persons under 18-years of age due to the language and subject matter.

This play is actually a "potboiler" or rather a play with a play. It's about the opening night of “The Golden Egg” on Broadway, and the wealthy producer, Julia Budder is having a private party in her upscale townhouse upstairs. All the while, downstairs more celebrities are gathering for the reviews, however, the real action is going on in the bedroom of the upstairs lavish apartment, where "The Golden Egg" actors and actresses have hunkered down awaiting the reviews of the "Golden Egg".

They are all hoping it will be a big hit. This outrageously funny, narcissistic, cast will keep you on the edge of your seat laughing. The Original play was performed in 1982 and was written by Texan playwright Terrence McNally.

This hysterical comedy made its way from off-off-Broadway to off-Broadway to on Broadway over the course of 30 years. In that time some A-list movie stars like Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, Martin Short, Christine Baranski, Stockard Channing, David Hyde Pierce, Joanna Gleeson, and Rupert Grint have been added to the cast of players as seen in the video below.
