The 'Walk With Pride' program is collecting donations to provide new shoes for Abilene school children.  The program, sponsored by the Abilene Board of Realtors, delivers shoes to hundreds of kids in need each year as school begins.

This week, 'Walk With Pride' events are being held at the Payless Shoe store in the Mall of Abilene on August 16th and 18th at 6pm.  It's a great program to help needy families in our region, and donations are being accepted at the Abilene Board of Realtors office, 262 South Pioneer.    The Salvation Army locally identifies children who are eligible to receive shoes.  If you want to find out if you qualify, contact the Salvation Army at 325-677-1408.

In addition to this program, the Partners In Education program is urging donations of school supplies to help families with kids in need.  Parents can stop by the first floor of the AISD building at 241 Pine Street to get supplies.  Donations of supplies are being accepted at various locations around Abilene including Camelot Apartments and  Lonestar Endodontics.  For complete information on these programs you can click ahead at facebook.com/aisdpie or AbileneBOR.com.  (via reporternews.com)
