When is the First Day of School in the Abilene Area?

When I was a kid, we wouldn't start the new school year until after Labor Day weekend. Nowadays, it seems like the start of school happens earlier and earlier each year. Heck, it sure feels like it was just yesterday when the kids were getting out of school for summer vacation.

Well, not that summer is winding down, but it is time to start thinking about "back to school" and when that actually takes place here in the Abilene and surrounding area. That way, you can start planning any last-minute vacations or other family functions.

Better yet, knowing the exact day school starts will allow you more time to prepare your child for school while getting all the clothes and school supplies together before those meet the teacher meetings.

The following is a list of area school districts and their respective start dates for the 2022-2023 school year. Each date is linked with the school's calendar as well.
